Jacobus (Koos) Roux

Briza Publications author Jacobus “Koos” Roux (deceased 12 May 2013) was born in Villiersdorp in the Western Cape and trained as a horticulturist, working as Curator of the Drakensberg Botanical Garden in Harrismith until 1984. He was awarded his PhD in Plant Taxonomy in 1998 and served as Curator of the Compton

Herbarium at Kirstenbosch, he was passionately interested in ferns and travelled widely in the field, becoming a world authority on the group. He published widely on the ferns of Africa, this being his fourth book on the subject being published post mortem .
