Fanie Venter

Briza Publications author Fanie Venter holds an MSc. from the University of Natal, South Africa and a PhD in plant systematics from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. His research interests have included extensive travel in the southern half of Africa, the Middle East and the Western Pacific. He has written numerous scientific and popular publications and co-authored several books on human geography, ethno-botany and tree flora. He is the author of 17 described, tree and lily species. When not studying or researching he enjoys photography, painting birds and plants, scuba diving, running, bird watching and tramping. Fanie is currently working as a botanical and environmental consultant in the Western Pacific and Australia, where he lives near the Great Barrier Reef in Tropical Queensland.
